Govt in talks with Ulema regarding Eid-ul-Adha, cattle market SOPs

ISLAMABAD: The Government has started talks with the religious scholars and Ulema in order to finalize the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Eid-ul-Adha congregation and cattle market in order to keep the spread of the coronavirus under control.

During a meeting on Saturday Special Assistant to Prime Minister Dr Zafar Mirza told the Minister for Religious Affairs that the coming month is highly fatal if proper precautionary measures are not taken.

Noorul Haq Qadri also agreed that the health of the people was important along with performing their religious duties and it was decided that SOPs need to finalized for Eid-ul-Adha congregations and the cattle market similar to the way the Ulema and Government came to an agreement during Ramazan.

Interior Minister Ejaz Ahmad Shah who was also present at the meeting said that the Government was working hard on policies to contain the spread of the coronavirus outbreak during Eid-ul-Adha.

According to the minister, the sacrifice of animals is a religious obligation and every measure will be taken by the government so make sure that this obligation is carried out in a safe manner containing the risk of outbreak.
