KARACHI: Several localities in the District West Karachi have been placed under smart lockdown till 16 July 2020 following emergence of coronavirus cases from these areas according to the notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner Office.
The measures to seal these areas have been taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus following the federal government’s smart lockdown strategy.
However, lockdown meaures being taken for these areas are strict compared to smart lockdown being implemented in parts of Punjab.

Areas of District West Karachi being placed under smart lockdown:
- Gadap – UC-5 Songal (Gulshan-e-Maymar Blocks X, Y and Z)
- Kemari – UC-3 Kemari (Docks and Majeed Colony )
- Baldia – UC-5 Saeedabad (Blocks 5G, 5J, A3)
- SITE – UC-4 Metroville (Blocks 1,2,3,4 and 5)
- Orangi – UC-11 Data Nagar (Area A/B)
- Orangi – UC-12 Mujahid Colony (Millatabad, Gulfamabad Aligarh Colony)
Only grocery stores and medical will be allowed to open in these areas during specific timings only. No other businesses will be allowed to operate and this includes no deliveries and takeaway for restaurants.
Movement will be strictly limited and only one person will be allowed in the house to buy essentials on the condition that he carries his ID card along with him.
People will be required to wear mask while leaving their house and anyone entering or exiting the lockdown areas will be required to wear a mask. Furthermore, all private family get-together have also been banned.
Pillion riding has been strictly banned as well as any taxi or online ride hailing services such as Uber, Careem and Airlift have been banned from operating here during lockdown.
Anyone found in violation will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
