ISLAMABAD: PlayersUnkown’s Battleground or PUBG ban in Pakistan has been opposed by the Federal Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry as well as the IT Minister Aminul Haque after tweets directed at both regarding their opinion on the matter.
The online multiplayer game was banned on 1 July 2020 by the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) after suggestion from Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Zulfiqar Hameed.
Several petitions have been filed in the Sindh High Court and Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the PUBG ban in Pakistan but so far no decision has been announced after several hearings on the matter that were attended by Lawyers from the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority and the PUBG Corporation.

Fawad Chaudhry opposes PUBG ban in Pakistan
However, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology took to twitter giving his opinion on the matter speaking up against the PUBG ban in Pakistan saying:
Well I against all kinds of general bans, such attitude is killing tech industry we cannot afford such bans,
He further expressed hope that the IT Minister would take appropriate action on the matter saying:
I hope concerned minister Syed Aminul Haque will take note of this ban and PTA will be instructed not to encourage such bans as it hinders tech growth in the long run.
Aminul Haque speaks out against the PUBG ban
Aminul Haque has also spoken out against the PUBG ban in Pakistan saying that the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) doesn’t fall under his ministry but the authority is overseen by the Cabinet Divison.
However, Aminul Haq also opposed the ban on the online multiplayer game saying that he was against any bans that hinder any sort of progress.
