LAHORE: A fake news has been circulating regarding Punjab Government issuing a notification ending the lockdown in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic with immediate effect.
The fake news / notification that was released on social media appears to be real in terms of its context however, the official Twitter account of the Punjab Health Reforms has confirmed that no such notification was issued by the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department.

According to the fake news / notification issued on 6th August 2020, the Punjab Government ending the lockdown announced that shopping malls, markets / establishments would be allowed to operate 24 hours a day , 7 days a week.
Furthermore, the fake notification also states that construction sectors have also been allowed to operate 24/7 with the orders coming into force immediately.
This fake news was even published by some top media organizations without verification.

However, the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that more sectors including dine-in for restaurants, salons and cinemas will be reopening from August 10, 2020.
