Punjab launches universal number plates - registration details

LAHORE: The provincial government has launched new Punjab universal number plates across the province according to a notification issued by the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department.

According to the department, the new Punjab Universal Number Plates will be issued with the same serial number across the province from August 17, 2020 completely ending the earlier serials with LEA, RN etc.

The new number plates will hold serial of AAA for cars and bikes while commercial vehicles will get serial of CAA and the government will be holding an online auction for the registration of attractive numbers on August 23, 2020.

Punjab Universal Number Plates E-Auction

The Excise and Taxation Department has launched an E-Auction app for the registration of attractive numbers during the online auction that will take place on August 23, 2020.

Price details for E-Auction:

The prices for auction of attractive numbers has also been disclosed by the Excise and Taxation Department.

The registration numbers have been divided into three different tiers for cars ranging from 001 all the way up to 999 with the starting price of the tiers being Rs. 5,000. Rs. 7,500 and Rs. 10,000 respectively.

However, the commercial vehicle registration numbers for the new Punjab Universal Number Plates have been categorized into four different tiers with which start 001 and go all the way up to 9999. The price starting price for the lowest tier is Rs 1,000 while the highest tier starts at Rs. 10,000.

As for motorcycles / motorbikes, there is only one standard tier which is priced at Rs. 500 and numbers range from 1001 to 9990.
