LAHORE: Several people have lost their lives due to rain related incidents in Lahore and across the province on Thursday with a maximum rainfall of 189mm recorded in the provincial capital.
Rain in Lahore caused urban flooding in different areas of the city with people facing immense difficulties in going about their routine lives.
Parts of the city had remained without electricity due the several feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) being tripped during the heavy downpour in the provincial capital.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted more rain in Lahore and across Punjab over the next 24 hours and authorities have been told to stay alert to keep the situation under control.

189mm of rain recorded in Lahore
Lahore has recorded a maximum rain of 186mm was recorded in Lahore as reported by the Pakistan Meteorological Department. The following rain was recorded in different regions of the city as of 07:00AM this morning:

- Head Office WASA, Gulberg (85mm)
- Lakshmi Chowk (189mm)
- Upper Mall (141mm)
- Mughalpura SDO Office (74mm)
- Tajpura SDO Office (173mm)
- Nishtar Town (123mm)
- Chowk Nakhuda (120mm)
- Pani Wala Talab (141mm)
- Farrukhabad (156mm)
- Gulshan-e-Ravi (155mm)
- Iqbal Town SDO Office (131mm)
- Samanabad SCO Office (153mm)
- Johar Town SDO Office (103mm)
More rain is expected across Punjab over the next 24 hours as per reports by the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
Furthermore, two people were killed and seven injured when the roof of a house collapsed on Muridke Road in Sheikhupura. Five people lost their at Phalia area in Mandi Mahauddin when roof of their house collapsed. This included a woman and four children. Faisalabad also reported two deaths due to electrocution.
