The Muslim 500 names PM Imran Khan ‘Man of the Year’

A Jordan based publication, The Muslim 500, has named Prime Minister Imran Khan as ‘Man of the Year‘ in the 2020 edition of their magazine while “Woman of the Year’ title goes to US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib.

The editor said that if the publication existed back in 1992, Prime Minister Imran Khan would have been named ‘Man of the Year‘ for his outstanding performance in cricket.

While talking about how he admired the sport, the editor wrote:

If The Muslim 500 was in print back in 1992 and I was then Chief Editor I would have nominated Imran Khan as our Muslim Man of the Year because of his brilliant performance in cricket, which culminated in Pakistan winning the 1992 Cricket World Cup.

The editor also praised Prime Minister Imran Khan for his work and devotion towards helping cancer patient after he lost his mother. The editor wrote:

I also was touched when Khan launched a successful fund raising campaign to establish a hospital devoted to both the care of victims of cancer as well as research,

This was his magnificent response to the loss of his mother to cancer in 1985 and given Imran Khan’s extraordinary popularity with Pakistanis both at home as well as among the large number of Pakistani expats along with his own, no doubt, generous personal contribution—he raised sufficient funds so that by 1994 the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital opened its doors in Lahore. 75 percent of its patients receive free-care,

Imran Khan after devoting 22 years to of his life towards building a political party finally became the Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2018, committed towards bringing change and working on ending corruption and mismanagement.

According to the publication, these accomplishments along with many other are the reason Prime Minister Imran Khan holds the number 16 ranking on the list of the latest 2020 edition of The Muslim 500 and also named ‘Man of the Year’.

The publication talks about how Prime Minister Imran Khan upon taking office wanted to normalize relationships with India and settle the Kashmir dispute, the editor wrote:

This is Imran Khan’s great dilemma—how do you make a much desired lasting peace with a nation governed by those who have neither interest nor need to make a lasting peace with Pakistan, and against whom any form of war would be hopeless. The answer it would seem that Imran Khan’s efforts must now focus on mobilising global opinion, to turn a RSS-led India a global pariah. With his impressive column in the New York Times and the sudden burst of public activity by some of Imran Khan’s touring ministers and ambassadors in America, Europe and perhaps in Asia, that appears to be now underway,

Rashida Tlaib named ‘Woman of the Year’ by The Muslim 500

The Muslim 500 named US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib as “Woman of the Year’ for her accomplishments. She is the first Palestinian-American elected to the American Congress as member of the House of Representatives.

Rashida Tlaib took her individual oath with her hand of the Holy Quran starting her first term in office which has been widely publicized because of President Donald Trump accusing her and other women of color for acting against America’s interests and telling them to “go back to where they came from”.

However, President Donald Trump forgets while her parents may have been immigrants, she was actually born in Detroit, making USA her actual home.

While The Muslim 500 named Prime Minister Imran Khan as ‘Man of the Year’ and ranked him 16 on their list, the person to rank on number one is Mufti Taqi Usmani, followed by  followed by Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei of Iran and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan of the UAE.

Not to forget that Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Saudi Arabia prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud are also mentioned in the list of The Muslim 500.
