WEATHER UPDATE: A spell of rain is expected in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and other part Punjab and upper Pakistan from Tuesday to Thursday according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
Widespread rain and wind thunderstorms with few heavy falls are expected in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, parts of Punjab, upper parts of Pakistan including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir.
According to the Met Department, “Heavy falls may generate urban flooding in Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Haripur, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Sargodha, Lahore and Faisalabad on Wednesday and Thursday and may trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa”.
Rains are also expected in Balochistan according to the Met Department which states, “Rain-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls are also expected in Lasbella, Khuzdar, Awaran, Barkhan, Zhob, Musa Khel, Loralai, Kohlu and Sibbi during Monday and Tuesday“.
All concerned authorities have been advised to remain alert and take appropriate measures to avoid loss of life or damage to private or public property.
During the previous spell of rain in Lahore and other parts of Punjab, several people lost their lives due to related causes such as electrocution and roofs of homes collapsing.
