Body of Dr Maha Shah to be exhumed for autopsy

KARACHI: The police investigators have decided to get court permission to exhume the body of Dr Maha Shah for post mortem after the original medical report was found to contain wrong information.

Police claim that a lot of progress has been made into the suicide investigation of Dr Maha Shah and it has been discovered that information mentioned in her original medical report was wrong therefore the body of the deceased will be exhumed for autopsy.

According to the police claim that the medico-legal officer (MLO) had released the original report without conducting an autopsy mentioning that the 9mm pistol used in the incident was shot from the left whereas, the the bullet was shot from the right side.

Permission will be sought by police from the court to exhume the body of Dr Maha Shah for autopsy so that it may reveal a clear picture of the the incident and what actually happened.

Earlier, the father of the deceased Syed Asif Ali Shah went public accusing a colleague of her daughter along with two other people for her death claiming that she was drugged, harassed and blackmailed by these men which eventually drove her to the point of taking her own life.

According to The News, a First Information Report (FIR) No. 432/20 was registered at the Gizri Police Station against Junaid Khan, son of Asghar Ali, Waqas Hassan Rizvi, son of Zafar Jamil, and dentist Dr Irfan Qureshi who was later granted bail against a surety bond of Rs. 500,000 after the complainant failed to prove his involvement in the matter.

Junaid Khan is reportedly also roaming free and the father of Dr Maha Shah claims he knows the reason and will disclose it in the coming days. He claims that Junaid told him about being in a relationship with his daugther and wanting to marry her. However, the father says:

If he was really interested in marrying her, why didn’t he send a proposal? These are all fabricated stories, and I’m here with the proofs.

Syed Asif Ali Shah also claims that Junaid Khan got his daughter hooked to cocaine and alcohol and used to beat her in front of her friends which resulted in her teeth being broken.

The late doctor’s younger sister also corroborated her father’s statement telling police that Junaid Khan had raped her after giving her drugs at his house leaving her distraught.

According to the sister, Dr Maha Shah told her that she shared the ordeal with Dr Irfan but instead of helping or supporting her, he also molested her under the influence of drugs at his house.

However, more information will be revealed after the body of the deceased is exhumed for autopsy.
