KARACHI: Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced a three year Karachi Development Package worth Rs. 1,100 billion a week after the spell of monsoon rains that wrecked havoc across the port city.
The premier while addressing a news conference at the Government House said that the historic Karachi Development Package will cater towards fixing a wide range of problems including water, transport and solid waste management within the metropolis.

According to the Prime Minister, the recent spells of rain have caused devastation across the country and the government will not only focus on fixing problems of Sindh but also other provinces.
PM Khan said that the government will deal with the situation the same way it dealt with the coronavirus pandemic achieving positive results. According to the Prime Minister, the Provincial Coordination and Implementation Committee (PCIC) will be consituted with all stakeholder reporting directly to the Chief Minister Sindh.
Speaking about the problems regarding implementing plans in Karachi, the Prime Minister said:
It is important that different entities have jurisdiction in Karachi,
Implementation of the plans was difficult before but now, through the PCIC, it will be easy as the federal and provincial governments and the army will be monitoring it,
The premier said that fixing the waste management system of Karachi was the top priority as it was a major problem for the port city. Moreover, he spoke about the recent floods saying that he had been informed about the damage caused in Interior Sindh.
Speaking of the flooding in Balochistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the government was devising a plan for the rehabilitation of affected people and was in talks in the Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan about the problem.
Not leaving out the people in other parts of the country who suffered from the recent monsoon spell, PM Khan said that the government will also provide help to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chitral and Swat after the damage caused by the immense flooding.
