KARACHI: The electricity supply company K Electric (KE) website has been hacked by Netwalker Ransomware on Monday disrupting billing and online services with customers being unable to access their accounts.
According to details, after K Electric (KE) website was hacked, the power supply company has been unable to issue electricity bills to several customers in various regions as the billing system remains non-functional.
K Electric (KE) has reported the incident of the hacking to Federal Investigation Agency where the hackers (Netwalker Ramsomware) are demanding a whopping $3.8 million for restoration of services.
The power company has been given seven days by Netwalker Ransomware to pay for the decryption tool in order to restore services otherwise the ransom amount goes up to $7.7 million according to BleepingComputers.
Apart from K Electric (KE) website being hacked, Netwalker Ransomware also stole data from the power supplier according to a Tor Stolen Data Page and threatening to release it causing financial damage to both the company and customers.
