Another suspect and the accomplice of prime accused in the Lahore motorway gang rape case has been arrested and confessed of his involvement in the incident.
According to sources, the police have arrested a 23-year-old man named Shafqat and the accused has confessed of his involvement in the Lahore motorway gang rape case.
The suspect is a resident of Haroonabad, Bahawalnagar and has a record of criminal activities. He told the police that on the night of the incident, they broke the car window for theft and later gang raped the woman.

Minutes after Shafqat Ali was arrested, Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar confirmed the news about his DNA matching the samples taken from the victim.
However, the prime suspect, Abid Ali, still remains at large with his whereabouts unknown and police teams are conducting raids at different locations to search and arrest him.
Another suspect surrenders, denies involvement
Earlier on Sunday, another suspect by the name of Waqar ul Hassan surrendered himself to police but refused any involvement in the Lahore motorway gang rape case.
However, the police was able to apprehend Shafqat based on the information provided Waqar ul Hassan and according to sources, he is no longer a suspect in the case.

Waqar ul Hassan’s brother-in-law also surrendered to police in Sheikhupura after he was named for using a mobile phone sim registered in Waqar’s name.
Rs. 2.5 million bounty
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar along with IG Punjab Inam Ghani announced a Rs. 2.5 million reward for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of each of the suspects.
According to the chief minister, the key suspect, Abid Ali, already has seven cases registered against him including two rapes while his alleged accomplice Waqar ul Hassan has two robbery cases filed against him before being released on bail 14 days earlier.

Lahore motorway gang rape incident
A woman was gang raped on Lahore motorway in front of her children on Wednesday after her car broke down stranding her on the road.
According to sources, the woman called motorway police for help but was denied assistance due to jurisdiction issues after which she was spotted by the assailants who attacked her car.
The culprits forced the woman along with her children out of the car and took them to a nearby field where they gang raped the woman and then robbed her of all valuables immediately fleeing the scene.
