Box Office:
The animation movie Epic released May 24, 2013 might have won the battle against Boggans but was defeated by senior franchise films ‘Fast and the Furious 6′ and ‘Hangover 3′. However, the star jammed film did not only make $33.5 million dollars and took fourth place at this weekends box office because it was a bad movie but because the release date was completely wrong.
Besides not doing so well, ‘Epic’ describes the movie perfectly because there are so many “Epic” things going on. The films animations are exquisite and the characters are easily lovable. Mary Katherine or MK (Amanda Seyfried) goes to visit her father, who has not been a part of her life, and while there discovers the people of the forest whom her father has been searching for all his life. Though MK drops by at the wrong time, once Queen Tara (Beyonce Knowles) has just chosen the heir to take care of the forest, because the Boggans (the leaf mans arch nemesis) has plotted to take over the forest by obtaining the chosen heir. The battle rages on between good and evil and in the end only one will be left standing . Other voices done in the film are by Josh Hutcherson, Colin Farrell, Aziz Ansari, and Chris O’Dowd who not only add a variety of personalities and characters but also add a lot of laughs to the film.
Though it is a kids movie, the film encourages people to ‘look closer’ into our environment and see what is happening to places like our forest. In the film people can be represented by the Boggans who are destroying our natural resources and destroying our ecosystem and it is up to us to put a stop to it.
