Karachi : New Year’s Eve Cellular services not to be suspended

KARACHI: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that mobile phone services will not be suspended in Karachi on New Year’s Eve.

The Sindh government has, however, imposed a three-day ban on pillion riding in Karachi starting from the evening today.

In a notification issued by the Home Department, the Sindh government also imposed a three-day ban on aerial firing and riding motorcycles without silencers.

The spokesperson of the Sindh Police SSP Imran Shaukat had earlier, that the police will register a case of attempted murder against any person found involved in aerial firing anywhere in the city.

The step has been taken to curb any possible act of violence during New Year’s Eve.

Carrying arms on New Year night is also prohibited. All the roads leading to Sea View will be closed and parking there will not be allowed. However, people living in that area can use these roads.

Farhan Abro

Hello! My name is Farhan Abro, and I'm based here in Islamabad. My journey in Pakistan's digital media really kicked off when I founded INCPak back in 2012. We built it from the ground up, driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, to be a trusted voice for independent journalism. But while media is a big part of who I am, I'm also shaped by a fascinating mix of other passions. I'm deeply into automotive, which gives me a technical edge, but I also find my artistic expression through landscape photography and music. And I'm always diving into the exciting world of Artificial Intelligence. Bringing all these different worlds together the technical, the creative, the journalistic, and the entrepreneurial—it really colors how I see things and approach every project. It gives me a distinct perspective that I try to bring to everything I share
