New Delhi India Pakistan border officials to meet in September

The annual meeting of officials of the Pakistan Rangers and Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) will be held on September 09 to 13 in New Delhi.

A spokesman for the Pakistan Rangers said that the Director General (DG) of the paramilitary force and IG Indian BSF meeting is a usual annual gathering.

Ahead of the high-level meeting, representatives of DG Rangers and BSF had also held a meeting to set the agenda.

The two sides are expected to discuss the situation on the Line of Control and the Working Boundary.

Though the details of the agenda were kept under wraps, it is learnt that various border issues, frequent ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Rangers along the Line of Control (LoC) and the recent Gurdaspur terror attack were on the list. Also, the BSF is likely to take up in detail the infiltration bids along the (LoC) and the International Border.

The BSF has already prepared a list of infiltration bids and sources claimed that an 11-point agenda was handed over to the Pakistan Rangers at the joint check post on Tuesday.

The meeting between the two border forces has assumed importance after the national security adviser-level talks between the two nations were called off recently.

BSF IG, Punjab Frontier, Anil Palliwal told HT: “I cannot share details, but the agenda includes all important issues pertaining to border management between the two guarding forces.”
