Bentley has already announced plans to launch its first electric vehicle (EV) in 2025 while moving to a full electric lineup by 2030.
Now the automaker’s CEO Adrian Hallmark has confirmed the company’s plan for its upcoming electric SUV, which will be the first Bentley EV and is based on the Audi Artemis Platform.
“Looking forward to electrification, we’re going to have closer synergies with Audi,” Hallmark told CarMagazine in an interview. “But we will continue to have strong relationships with both brands [Audi and Porsche], and we see this as an opportunity, not a risk. No question – we are electrifying. And we need to find the best way to fast-track that, and to lead the technology charge.”
Bentley is also moving towards a change in vehicle design and brand styling, said Hallmark. The CEO said that EV models will be designed around the battery and aerodynamic requirements.
Bentley is a company that claims to have sold more 12-cylinder cars than any other but Hallmarks says that the company needs to adapt to the new trend that is electric vehicles (EV).
“The customer mindset is changing; 39 per cent of Bentley owners are considering a BEV as their next car.” said Hallmark.
