In this article, we have made a list of the best selling cars in Pakistan as per the fiscal year 2020-2021 (FY20-21). This has been an interesting year for the automotive industry in Pakistan with several new vehicle launches and increased competition. It bears mentioning that even though several new car manufacturers entered the automotive industry, the list is still dominated by the BIG3 (Suzuki, Toyota and Honda) and the new entrants, including the crossover SUVs did not make this list of best selling cars in Pakistan for the year 2021.
Best Selling Cars in Pakistan 2021
The following is the list of the best selling cars in Pakistan for the fiscal year 2020-2021 and the number of vehicle units sold by the company in FY20-21.
1. Suzuki Alto
The Suzuki Alto has been one of the best selling cars in Pakistan during 2021 with 37,720 units sold in FY20-21. The car is the go-to choice for most buyers due to the lower price tag, parts availability and good resale value, which is an important factor in the country when deciding to buy a vehicle. It is pertinent to mention that the vehicle saw an uptick of 22% in sales compared to the previous fiscal year despite the coronavirus pandemic.
2. Toyota Yaris
Toyota Yaris is the most popular vehicle in the budget sedan category since its launch in 2020 and the vehicle has sold 28,295 units during the fiscal year 2020-2021 (FY20-21). Toyota Yaris has dominated the sales in this segment compared to competition like Honda Civic and Honda City.
3. Toyota Corolla
Toyota Corolla makes the list of the best selling cars in Pakistan during fiscal year 2020-2021 with 18,355 units sold. However, the sales have declined compared to last year due to the launch of the Toyota Yaris, which replaced the XLi and GLi variants of the Toyota Corolla.
4. Suzuki Cultus
Suzuki Cultus has always been a fan favorite since its launch many years ago and the new model makes the list of best selling cars in Pakistan during 2021 with 17,510 units sold, which is a 42% increase compared to the previous fiscal year despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
5. Suzuki WagonR
Suzuki WagonR has been one of the most popular hatchbacks for several years now. The vehicle comes in both manual and automatic transmission options with 0 safety features, which makes it the perfect family car in Pakistan. The vehicle sold 12,659 units during 2021, making it one of the best selling vehicles in Pakistan.
6. Honda Civic & Honda City
Honda Civic X and Honda City sold 25,276 units in total during fiscal year 2020-2021, which means roughly 12,500 sales for each vehicle. It is not surprising that Honda Civic and Honda City have made the list of best selling cars in Pakistan during 2021 as the vehicle belongs to one of the BIG3 companies in Pakistan and has been the go-to choice for car buyers for decades.
7. Suzuki Ravi
Suzuki Ravi is the most popular pick-up micro-truck in Pakistan. The vehicle has sold 9,631 units during FY20-21. It is pertinent to mention that the vehicle has been in production since decades and the company is providing the same thing to customers without any improvements or new features. However, the customers are still buying the vehicle despite the outdated features.
8. Suzuki Bolan
Suzuki Bolan is a car which does not fall into any known vehicle category to mankind. It is neither a car, nor an SUV and it is not even a truck. However, it is one of the best selling cars in Pakistan for the fiscal year 2021-2020 and famously known as ‘Dabba’. The car sold 8,196 units during FY20-21.
9. Toyota Hilux
Toyota Hilux is a popular pick-up semi-truck in Pakistan. The vehicle has sold 7,043 units, making it one of the best selling cars in Pakistan during 2021.
10. Kia Sportage
The new kid on the block, Kia Sportage, made a comeback after 2 decades and has sold thousands of units with their latest model. It is currently dominating the crossover SUV segment in Pakistan while competing with MG HS, Hyundai Tucson, DFSK Glory 580 Pro and Proton X70.
