Javed Afridi, the owner of Peshawar Zalmi and key stakeholder of MG Motors in Pakistan, has once again teased the launch of the MG 3 in Pakistan. In a Facebook post, Javed Afridi shared a video of the MG 3 while stating that launch of the vehicle was in its final stages.
The entrepreneur also mentioned that price of MG 3 in Pakistan will be under Rs. 2 million, which seems surprising in today’s economy considering that vehicle has a 1.5-litre engine and competes directly with the popular Suzuki Swift, which starts at Rs. 2,774,000.
Furthermore, it bears mentioning that Javed Afridi has a habit of making big claims regarding a lot of things but he never comes through in the end. The launch of the MG 3 in Pakistan seems to be one of them since MG Pakistan is yet to sell locally assembled cars in the country.
It is pertinent to mention that price of MG 3 in Pakistan (Rs. 2 million) as mentioned by Javed Afridi seems unrealistic considering the current economic condition and most vehicles available in this range are entry level hatchbacks with 660cc or 1000cc engine capacity.
