Build Your Dreams (better known as BYD), known for making eco-friendly cars, plans to enter Pakistan’s passenger vehicle market with Mega Conglomerate Pvt. Ltd. This move marks a big step for BYD into one of South Asia’s biggest markets. The deal was sealed during a ceremony in China attended by BYD executives and Mega’s Executive Director, Aly Khan.
BYD’s Mr. Liu Xueliang celebrated their global leadership in selling new energy vehicles (NEVs), surpassing 3 million units in 2023. The partnership with Mega aligns with BYD’s goal of fighting climate change by promoting greener transportation. Mega’s Aly Khan expressed excitement about this collaboration, aiming to promote electric vehicle (EV) adoption in Pakistan.
Mega plans to push BYD EVs aggressively in Pakistan, starting with opening three flagship showrooms in major cities. These showrooms will offer customers a chance to explore BYD’s advanced EV technology and make direct purchases.
BYD Auto, established in 2003, is BYD’s car-making division. It focuses on developing electric and hybrid vehicles, boasting expertise in key technologies like batteries and electric motors. Recent innovations include the Blade Battery and DM-i Super Hybrid Technology.
Meanwhile, Mega is a major Pakistani conglomerate that operates across various sectors including shipping, logistics, cement, and energy. It’s a significant player in Pakistan’s energy landscape, owning substantial electric generation capacity.
