The price of the MG HS SUV has been increased by MG Pakistan as the company reopens bookings for its top-of-the-line SUV in the country. However, it bears mentioning that the new hike in MG HS price is for the Completely Built Unit (CBU) and not the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) variant.
Latest MG HS Price in Pakistan
Variant | Old Price (PKR) | New Price (PKR) | Change (PKR) |
---|---|---|---|
MG HS | Rs. 5,449,000 | Rs. 5,749,000 | Rs. 300,000 |
The company has not issued any valid reason for the price hike of MG HS. However, there could be a number of reasons, including increase in the import duty for the vehicle or the global chip shortage impeding the production of vehicles.
Meanwhile, the company has reopened MG HS bookings from 27 May 2021. The booking amount for the vehicle is. 2,000,000 as per the announcement made by MG Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention that the price of MG ZS still remains at Rs. 4,099,000 and has not been increased since its launch in Pakistan. We will have to wait and see if the price hike for the HS affects sales of the vehicle considering there is very tough competition in the market in the crossover SUV segment.
MG has also started the local production of its HS SUV in Pakistan. The announcement was made by Javed Afridi, who is a key stakeholder in the company.
However, it is still unclear if the MG HS CKD is going to cheaper than the CBU variant or if the company is planning on another price increase for the locally produced units.
The price hike sure puts the MG HS in a tough spot considering the competition in the market, especially with the newly launched Haval Jolion, which is now cheaper than the HS SUV and managed to turn heads in the local automotive sector.
