The National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) has introduced a strict new policy targeting overspeeding on motorways across Pakistan.
Under the latest directives, vehicles caught exceeding 150 km/h will face an immediate ban from the motorway, along with hefty fines and the registration of an FIR against the violators.
Revised Speed Limits for Motorways
According to an official spokesperson from the Motorway Police, the new speed limits are as follows:
- Cars on three-lane motorways: 120 km/h
- Public service vehicles (buses, vans, etc.): 110 km/h
These measures are part of a special campaign launched under the directives of IG Motorway Police, Riffat Mukhtar Raja. The campaign aims to crack down on high-speed vehicles and ensure safer travel for all commuters.
Enhanced Monitoring and Safety Measures
To support the new policy, the NHMP has announced plans to strengthen speed monitoring on national highways. Additionally, safety barriers and fencing on motorways will be improved to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of travelers.
“Ensuring safe travel remains our top priority,” stated the Motorway Police spokesperson. “These measures are designed to protect lives and reduce the number of accidents caused by reckless driving.”
