Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has reopened booking for some cars, except its best-selling vehicles. However, the company has only resumed bookings for corporate customers, but it is soon expected to open bookings completely as it recovers from the crisis faced by the automotive industry.
It is pertinent to mention that our automotive industry has gone through one of the worst crisis due to the depreciation of Pakistani Rupee (PKR) against the US Dollar (USD) as well as the restrictions by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) regarding issuance of Letter of Credits (LCs) for the import of Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits.
These problems forced automotive companies to announced Non-Production Days (NPDs) as well as suspend bookings in order to deliver vehicle already booked by customers. Some automotive companies like Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) found it so hard to keep their delivery deadlines that it even offered customers complete refund with mark-up for cancellation of their bookings.
However, the coalition government has ended the import ban and automakers are now allowed to import CKD kits, which is why companies like Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has resumed bookings. However, the resumption of bookings applies to some specific models and corporate customers only.
According to the details, Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has reopened bookings for the following cars:
- Swift GL Manual
- Swift GL CVT
- Wagon R VXL
- Wagon R VXR
- Cultus VXR
Meanwhile, the booking for the company’s best-seller, Suzuki Alto, remains suspended.
It is pertinent to mention that Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has recorded one of the lowest sales in July 2022 as it sold fewer than 6800 units, which means a drop of over 60% in month-on-month sales. The automotive company was able to sell less than 500 units of any car, except Suzuki Alto that managed sales of 4,600 units.
