Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has announced to shut down its motorcycle plant for 12 days due to shortage of inventory resulting from State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) mechanism for prior approval of imports.
“Due to shortage of inventory level, the management of the company has decided to shutdown motorcycle plant from March 20 to March 21.” the company said in a letter sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
However, PSMC clarified that its car assembly plan will remain operative during this time period.
This is not the first time Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) is shutting down its motorcycle or car plant due to shortage of inventory. Last month, the company halted production of automobiles from February 13 to 17, and then again from February 20 to 21.
Meanwhile, almost all other automotive manufacturers are observing non-production days (NPDs) as well. Last week, Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan Limited (HACPL) announced that it will be shutting down its plan from March 9 to 31.
