Punjab Ends Token Tax Relief on 10-Year-Old Cars

The Punjab Government has ended token tax relief on 10-year-old cars just two months after providing a concession of 25 to 30 percent on these vehicles.

According to PakWheels, the Provincial Assembly has passed a proposal which states that older cars produce more pollution, hence the relaxation on payment of token tax must end for these vehicles.

Furthermore, the Punjab Government will not only collect current tax but previously exempted token tax as well.

It bears mentioning that Punjab Government had asked consumers to pay their token tax by 1 July 2021 otherwise their vehicles may be seized, owner arrested and heavy fine imposed. There is also a chance that the vehicle’s registration is cancelled.
