Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has launched the ‘Punjab Green Wheels Program,’ a groundbreaking initiative aimed at promoting eco-friendly transportation by providing e-bikes and e-rickshaws at easy installment plan.
According to the details, the program involves providing 10,000 electric bikes and electric rickshaws on interest-free installment plan to individuals and the government has set a quota for different consumer categories.
Key components of the Green Wheels Program include allocating 2,000 electric three-wheeler bikes to special individuals, 2,000 for government employees, and another 2,000 for women in both government and private sectors, all with interest-free terms.
However, the government has not revealed any details about the installment plan for e-bikes and e-rickshaws regarding the make and model. Furthermore, no information has been shared about the eligibility requirements of the plan.
Furthermore, the government is changing its procurement policies, with a ban on fuel motorcycles at the governmental level. Therefore, all government departments will exclusively procure electric bikes, aligning with the global trend towards sustainable transportation.
The Caretaker Chief Minister emphasized the program’s significance in addressing environmental concerns and promoting sustainable practices. He urged citizens to embrace the opportunity, highlighting the collective contribution to a greener and cleaner future for Punjab.
The rollout of the Punjab Green Wheels Program will take place soon, marking a significant milestone in the province’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development. The initiative reflects a forward-looking approach, fostering eco-friendly transportation and enhancing the overall sustainability of the region.
