Premier Motors Limited (PML) is gearing up to launch locally assembled cars from Volkswagen and Skoda in Pakistan.
According to the details, the manufacturing / assembly plant for Volkswagen AG vehicles in currently under construction in Hub, Balochistan, and once the facility is complete by next year (2024), it would have the capacity to produce 32,000 units per annum.
The German Consul General, Dr, Rüdiger Lotz, paid a visit to the Premier Motors Limited’s (PML) world class automotive manufacturing (CKD) plant that is under construction. He was reportedly pleased with the progress and the impressive work being carried out PML.
This collaboration between Premier Motors Limited (PML) and Volkswagen AG Group will mark the entry of locally assembled vehicles by Volkswagen and Skoda for the first time in Pakistan.
“Foreign Investments are the need of the hour for the uplift of any economy.” said the German Consulate General Karachi’s Facebook page. “Besides injecting new capital and creating new jobs, this investment will also bring in new business in different market sectors and open up additional export opportunities, boosting the overall economic performance of PAK.” it added.
This is a refreshing news at a time when the automotive industry goes through one of the worst crisis due to the economic conditions of the country and restrictions on imports of CKD kits.
