The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that certain branches of banks will remain open on Saturday and Sunday (29 and 30 April, 2023) for extended working hours till 06:00 pm for collection of taxes.
In a press release, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said, “In order to facilitate the taxpayers in payment of Government duties / taxes, it has been decided on the request of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) that all those branches of banks that remain open on Saturday including authorized branches of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), and field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC) shall remain open on 29th & 30th April, 2023 (Saturday & Sunday) and observe extended working hours till 06:00 p.m. to facilitate the collection of taxes through ADC’s Over-the-Counter (OTC) facility.”
It further added that in order to ensure the same day clearing / settlement of payment instruments deposited at NBP’s authorized branches for customs collection, M/s. NIFT shall arrange special clearings at 01:00 p.m. on 29th April, 2023 (Saturday) and at 06:00 p.m. on 30th April, 2023 (Sunday).
Accordingly, all banks shall keep their clearing related branches open till such time that is necessary to facilitate the special clearings by NIFT on 29th & 30th April, 2023 respectively.
Meanwhile, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has also announced a bank holiday on 1 May 2023 (Monday) on account of Labour Day. According to the details, the SBP and all commercial banks will be closed on Monday.
