Telenor Microfinance Bank’s branchless banking and mobile wallet service, EasyPaisa, has denied rumors that it is shutting down services in Pakistan.
In a message posted on its social media handles, EasyPaisa said that rumors circulating on social media about the service being discontinued are baseless and completely false. “Regarding some posts circulating on social media claiming discontinuation of EasyPaisa’s services, we would like to confirm that these rumors are baseless and completely false.” the company stated.
“We are a regulated bank governed by the State Bank of Pakistan and all customer funds are safe and protected.” it added. Furthermore, the company urged customers not to pay heed to such rumors and continue using EasyPaisa with complete peace of mind.
It is pertinent to mention that rumors were circulating on social media regarding EasyPaisa shutting down its services in Pakistan after news of the company (Telenor) selling its business it Pakistan.
