During the Let Loose event, Apple introduced the iPad Pro 4th Gen, featuring the latest M4 chip and a bunch of other upgrades.
Powered by the M4 chip, built on a second-generation 3nm node, the fourth-generation iPad Pro promises significant performance and efficiency improvements. Compared to its predecessor, the M2, the M4 boasts a CPU that is 1.5 times faster and offers up to 4 times better graphics performance. Impressively, it achieves this while doubling efficiency, resulting in the same performance as the M2 but at half the power consumption.
The 2024 iPad Pro is available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, marking Apple’s first iPad Pro models with OLED displays. The screens offer a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1000 nits brightness through High Brightness Mode (HBM). Storage options range from 256 GB to 2TB, with the 1 TB and 2 TB variants offering nano-texture display glass for reduced glare.
In terms of photography, the iPad Pro features a 12-megapixel ultrawide front camera and a 12-megapixel rear camera capable of capturing 4K videos. Security features include Face ID and a LiDAR scanner for augmented reality applications, while a quad-speaker setup enhances the audiovisual experience.
Connectivity options include USB-C 4, 5G, eSIM support, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. The tablet comes preloaded with iPad OS 17 and is compatible with accessories like the Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard.
Despite its powerful features, the iPad Pro maintains a sleek and lightweight profile, with the 11-inch variant measuring 5.3mm thin and weighing 444g (Wi-Fi) or 446g (Wi-Fi+5G), and the 13-inch variant measuring 5.1mm thin and weighing 579g (Wi-Fi) or 582g (Wi-Fi+5G).
In terms of pricing, the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro (Wi-Fi only) models start at $999 and $1,299 in the US, respectively, with an additional $200 for cellular variants and $100 for nano-texture glass variants. In Europe, prices start at 1,199 euros and 1,449 euros for Wi-Fi only models, with additional costs for 5G and nano-texture glass.
The iPad Pro comes in Space Black and Silver colors, with shipments set to begin on May 15 in most countries.
