Read before placing order on Ali Express – new import measures

This is some important information for all those wanting to place an order on Ali Express worth Rs. 5,000 or more as new measures are being implemented after which Pakistan Customs will be able to examine, check all imports through postal or courier services for more accurate assessment of duties and taxes.

These measures are being implemented by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to collect duties and taxes on imported goods in a more accurate manner based on the declared value.

Once the new rules come into effect, all imports worth Rs. 5,000 or more will be examined and checked to verify the declared value of these items. Pakistan Customs officials will have the authority to detain products while also increasing their value for more duty and taxes where necessary.

The postal and courier services will be required to submit a list of all goods along with their invoices where the declared value is Rs. 5,000 or more. Customs will than examine the list to verify the declared value of such products in accordance with all requirements and applicable law.

People thinking of placing an order on Ali Express should be especially cautious as orders from the site will be more thoroughly examined by Customs before being cleared and there may be taxes being implemented on the products.
