Al-Haj Automotive Group have collaborated with the Malaysian car manufacturer Proton and they are going to be introducing new vehicles in Pakistan soon including their Proton Saga and the Proton X70 SUV.
Proton cars to have downsized engines in Pakistan.
Proton Saga:
However there are reports that the Proton Saga will have a downsized engine for the Pakistani market but not to worry as the difference is insignificant.
The original Proton Saga comes with a 1332cc DOHC VVT engine with 94 hp and 120 Nm of torque however, the Pakistani variant will come with a 1299cc engine and the main reason for that is tax structure difference for cars below the 1300cc mark.

This will allow Proton Saga to be priced at a much lower rate if it comes with a 1299cc engine and will attract customers because of the lower tax bracket.
Talking about the car itself, it will be available in a 4 speed automatic as well as 5 speed manual transmission.

This is the same 3 cylinder turbo engine co-developed by Geely and Volvo for their vehicles and produces an impressive 174hp and 255Nm of torque.
These cars will be produced by Al-Haj Group who will be the official distributor of the Proton cars in Pakistan. Al-Haj are already known for working with FAW Automotive and producing their cars in the country.
The manufacturing facility for the Proton cars will be located in Karachi and have a capacity of producing 25,000 unites annually creating a ton of jobs opportunities in Pakistan as well.
