SBP Announces Bank Holiday for 9th and 10th Muharram

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a bank holiday for 9th and 10th Muharram, which fall on 28 and 29 July 2023 (Friday and Saturday).

“The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed from 28th to 29th July, 2023 (Friday to Saturday) being public holidays on the occasion of Ashura (9th & 10th Moharram 1445 A.H).” said a notification issued by the central bank.

It is pertinent to mention that since 9th and 10th Muharram coincide with Sunday, banks will remain closed for three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) before reopening on Monday (31 July 2023).

Last week, the Government already announced public holidays for 28 and 29 July 2023 (9th and 10th Muharram).
