KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has shut down rumors about not issuing fresh banknotes this Eid ul Fitr.
In a statement, the state bank assured that it’s sticking to its usual practice of distributing fresh banknotes through commercial banks across the country. So, as always, people can expect crisp new bills just in time for the festive season.
So far, SBP has already released Rs. 27 billion in fresh banknotes of all denominations to 17,000 branches of commercial banks, ensuring the public gets access. ATMs will also be stocked with good-quality notes to keep the cash flow smooth.
To keep things in check, SBP has also deployed cash monitoring teams to inspect branches and make sure fresh notes are distributed properly.
