The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that it will not issue new and fresh currency notes this year on Eid-ul-Fitr 2023.
It is pertinent to mention that State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) usually issued new currency notes for citizens on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
However, the central bank has said that it will not be issuing new currency notes for the general public, which is a huge let down for citizens as everyone used fresh notes for distributing Eidi (Cash Gift) amongst children.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee (RHC) is set to meet on 20th April for the Shawwal moon sighting to confirm the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan. However, the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council Secretary General, Khalid Aijaz has ruled out possibility of moon sighting on 20th April.
He added that Eid-ul-Fitr will is expected to fall on 22nd April this year (2023).
