Year 2000 ” Y2K Bug’  Is going to kill us.

The Y2K bug was a computer flaw, or bug, that may have caused problems when dealing with dates beyond December 31, 1999. The flaw, faced by computer programmers and users all over the world on January 1, 2000, is also known as the “millennium bug.” Although let’s consider the fact that this bug was real but it didn’t effect average person’s life at all.

Year 2001 ANTHRAX is going to kill us.

The anthrax outbreak in the United States which occurred during the latter part of 2001 has many of the same characteristics as a typical outbreak.
What is different, however, is that there was no transmission from infected to susceptible persons that linked one case with another.  Instead, all of the cases were generated by a terrorist or group of terrorists who sent letters containing anthrax spores through the postal system.  These spores — very small in size — typically entered the skin or lungs or victim when the envelop was handled or opened, when coming in contact with an environment where envelopes had previously been handled or opened, or when passing through small holes in unopened envelops.

As of 26 August 2002, the WHO Collaborating Centre for Arthropod Borne Viruses – Western Hemisphere, at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported 425 human cases of the West Nile virus, with 20 deaths occurring in 20 states and the District of Columbia. During 2002, West Nile virus activity (evidence of infections in birds, humans, mosquitoes, and other animals – primarily horses) has been documented in 41 states and the District of Columbia.

Still some cases are reported in United States only, beside it no where else in the whole wide world Strange isn’t it !

A weapon of mass destruction (WMD or WoMD) is a nuclear, radiological, chemical, biological or other weapon that can kill and bring significant harm to a large number of humans or cause great damage to human-made structures (e.g. buildings), natural structures (e.g. mountains), or the biosphere.

Only Iraqis died and there were no weapons of destruction in Iraq they invaded and searched each corner couldn’t find any, killed Saddam Hussein destabilized the country and the region, however No nobody died because of WMDs ! That’s CIA.

Year 2004: SARS is going to kill us

While we may never know with certainty where the SARS virus originated, it likely moved from animals to humans. Lab research confirmed that SARS can infect a number of animals, including palm civets that live in China where the 2003 outbreak originated.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a viral respiratory disease of zoonotic origin caused by the SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV). Between November 2002 and July 2003, an outbreak of SARS in southern China caused an eventual 8,096 cases and 774 deaths reported in 37 countries, with the majority of cases in Hong Kong (9.6% fatality rate) according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

No cases of SARS have been reported worldwide since 2004

 

Year 2005: Bird Flu is going to kill us

The outbreak of avian influenza A (H5N1) in Asia has become a global crisis for animal and human health. On January 27, 2004 The global spread of (highly pathogenic) H5N1 in birds is considered a significant pandemic threat. back in 1997 Outbreaks of highly pathogenic H5N1 are reported in poultry at farms and live animal markets in Hong Kong. Human infections with avian influenza H5N1 are reported in Hong Kong. Altogether, 18 cases (6 fatal) are reported in the first known instance of human infection with this virus.

H5N1 effected Asian countries specifically, The outbreaks were reported from Hong Kong and China – Poultry business was severely damaged, however yet we are unable to understand what the hell they were experimenting? but this definately was done to slower the economic growth of Asian countries and guess what we are still alive enjoying KFC !

Year 2006 E. Coli is going to kill us

On October 6, 2006, Friday, 199 persons infected with the outbreak strain of E. coli O157:H7 have been reported to CDC from 26 states.

Among the ill persons, 102 (51%) were hospitalized and 31 (16%) developed a type of kidney failure called hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS). One hundred forty-one (71%) were female and 22 (11%) were children under 5 years old. The proportion of persons who developed HUS was 29% in children (<18 years old), 8% in persons 18 to 59 years old, and 14% in persons 60 years old or older. Among ill persons who provided the date when their illnesses began, 80% became ill between August 19 and September 5. The peak time when illnesses began was August 30 to September 1- 31% of persons with the outbreak strain became ill on one of those 3 days.

Three deaths in confirmed cases have been associated with the outbreak. One was in an elderly woman from Wisconsin. Yesterday, Idaho confirmed that stool samples from a 2-year-old child with HUS who died on September 20 contained E. coli O157 with a “DNA fingerprint” pattern that matches the outbreak strain. Today, Nebraska reported the death of an elderly woman with an illness compatible with E. coli O157 infection who consumed raw spinach; E. coli O157 with the outbreak strain “DNA fingerprint” was detected in the remaining spinach.

Year 2007: Vaccines are going to kill us

Glaxo Smith Kline Argentina Laboratories Company was fined 400,000 pesos by Judge Marcelo Aguinsky following a report issued by the National Administration of Medicine, Food and Technology (ANMAT in Spanish) for irregularities during lab vaccine trials conducted between 2007 and 2008 that allegedly killed 14 babies.

Likewise, two doctors -Héctor Abate, and Miguel Tregnaghi- were fined 300,000 pesos each for irregularities during the studies.

The charges included experimenting with human beings as well falsifying parental authorizations so babies could participate in the vaccine-trials conducted by the laboratory from 2007 to 2008.

Since 2007, 15,000 children, under the age of one, from Mendoza, San Juan and Santiago del Estero provinces have been included in the research protocol, a statement of what the study is trying to achieve. Babies were recruited from poor families that attended to public hospitals fro medical treatment.

A total of seven babies died in Santiago del Estero; five in Mendoza; and two in San Juan.

This is an influenza virus that had never been identified as a cause of infections in people before the current H1N1 pandemic. Genetic analyses of this virus have shown that it originated from animal influenza viruses and is unrelated to the human seasonal H1N1 viruses that have been in general circulation among people since 1977.

Antigenic analysis has shown that antibodies to the seasonal H1N1 virus do not protect against the pandemic H1N1 virus. However, other studies have shown that a significant percentage of people age 65 and older do have some immunity against the pandemic virus. This suggests that some people in the older age group may have some cross protection from exposure to viruses that have circulated in the more distant past.

After early outbreaks in North America in April 2009 the new influenza virus spread rapidly around the world. By the time WHO declared a pandemic in June 2009, a total of 74 countries and territories had reported laboratory confirmed infections. To date, most countries in the world have confirmed infections from the new virus.

Within days of the April 20, 2010 explosion and sinking of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico that killed 11 people, underwater cameras revealed the BP pipe was leaking oil and gas on the ocean floor about 42 miles off the coast of Louisiana. By the time the well was capped on July 15, 2010 (87 days later), an estimated 3.19 million barrels of oil had leaked into the Gulf.

Year 2011: Yellow fever is going to kill us

19 JANUARY 2011 – On 23 December 2010, the Minister of Health in Uganda reported 3 laboratory confirmed cases of yellow fever, detected through a special investigation following an outbreak in the country in October 2010. The cases were reported in 3 districts of Abim, Agago and Kitgum near the border with South Sudan.

In total, five cases have been laboratory confirmed for yellow fever by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (3 by RT-PCR, 1 by ELISA method and 1 by histopathology). A total of 226 cases compatible with the clinical case definition including 53 deaths have been reported by 12 districts in northern Uganda.

February 12, North Korea, in defiance of the international warnings, appears to have conducted an underground detonation that is widely believed to be a nuclear weapons test. An “artificial earthquake” was detected from the northeastern area of the country with a magnitude of 5.0-5.1 according to the U.S. Geological Survey. North Korea’s official news agency claims that this was a successful nuclear test using a smaller, miniaturized device.

When United States drops a bomb on cities killing millions of people, nobody blinks an eye but when North Korea tests Nuclear bomb everyone goes crazy ! 

Year 2014 Ebola is going to kill us

The West African Ebola virus epidemic of 2013 to 2016 was the most widespread epidemic of Ebola virus disease in history. The disease caused significant loss of life and social disruption, mainly in three West African countries. The outbreak began inGuinea in December 2013 and then spread to Liberia and Sierra Leone.

The outbreak resulted in 17,000 survivors of the disease, many of whom report post recovery symptoms termed Post-Ebola Syndrome, with symptoms so severe that they may require medical care for months and even years. Also of concern is the apparent ability of the virus to “hide” in the recovered survivor’s body for an extended period of time and become active or infect a sexual partner for months or years following recovery from the acute episode of illness.

Year 2016  ZIKA virus is going to kill us

• Zika is spread mostly by the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito (Ae. aegypti and Ae. albopictus). These mosquitoes are aggressive daytime biters. They can also bite at night.
• Zika can be passed from a pregnant woman to her fetus. Infection during pregnancy can cause certain birth defects.
• There is no vaccine or medicine for Zika.
