ISLAMABAD: Access on the Kashmir Highway to Sectors G-15, G-16, F-15, and to the Motorway Link Road is challenging as commuters have to face heavy traffic. The road carries the burden of all types of vehicles such as motorbikes, auto-rickshaws, busses, cars, heavy trailers, trucks, and whatnot. The road is chaos the entire day with people and vehicles stuck on the road.
The residents of Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Housing Society (JKCHS), including a very large number of people coming daily in and out of the Society, face the volume of traffic hazards of the Great Trunk (GT) Road, which is the only route in and out from the Society!
Against all odds and difficulties, at every corner and turn, during the process of attempting to construct a building on a small piece of land purchased by a Widow in the F-15 Sector, in October 2017. She managed, with Allah’s Great Mercy to complete the structure, pouring into its every grain of sand, bricks, and mortar her dedication, her pure raw ability to work hard and, she completed the project single-handed. People from all walks of life would come to view it, only to say: ‘…the building is beautifully done and immaculately detailed but because of its location, it is impossible to get to…” These kinds of discouraging comments went on for two years… The constant question then arose: ‘what was to be done at the plaza that she had constructed?’
Until Corona happened; the constant opening and closing of schools during lockdown due to the Coronavirus scare; in addition, there is very little encouragement from the environment, in general, to be bold and brave in the face of adversities. The human brain, body, and breath when balanced with perfection is the most amazingly creative, innovative mechanism capable of far greater output. We, at the Brain-Body Breath Balance, believe that everything that happens is for the best and to ensure that, we devised a program of movements that connects learning, memory, and cognitive abilities in a way that enables people to master their innate capabilities and rise above lethargy, depression, and negativism.
Within three months we set up the premises and, opened the doors to the Ladies and Children, living in our JKCHS community. Classes started on the First of December 2021. We receive calls and inquiries from people whose children, in some cases, adults want and need to attend the classes, but their dilemma is that they cannot get to the premises, due to the traffic load on the GT Road. As yet, Alhamdulillah, we have the most adorable group of very small numbers, they are all from the local community, who live just walking distance away.
The incredible Lady who constructed the plaza and got the Brain-Body Breath Balance program up and running, wrote the following letter to The Chairman, National Highways Authority (NHA), in Sector G-9/1
Chairman
NHA
Sector G-9/1
Kashmir Highway Authority
Islamabad
Dear Sir,
Ref: Sectors G-15 & G-16, JKCHS, Islamabad
There is no doubt, that you are more aware of the Access Routes on, off and around the Kashmir Highway, however, we as the residents, including a large number of people coming in and out the Society daily, would like collectively, to point out some very important issues we are having to face, which could be avoided, if there was direct access on the Kashmir Highways to Sectors G-15 & G-16 Motorway Link Road. This is now a mandatory requirement so that our Society has progressive momentum as opposed to regressive henceforth.
Only Allah knows the hardships she, and others in the like situation, faced at every corner and turn during the process of the construction. She managed with Allah’s Mercy to build her plaza, with the purpose to establish a safe, secure source of income, thus also creating employment. The above sectors, not having direct access to the Kashmir Highways link to the Motorway Link Road are inhibiting and hindering everyone’s attempts to move forward and existing businesses are being adversely affected.
The only way into and out of the Society and access to Kashmir Highways is from the GT Road which is extremely difficult because of the huge volume of traffic on the GT Road. On the occasions of the ‘Long March Demonstrations’ the traffic become standstill for 10 to 15 hours, it caused serious emergencies with serious consequences (need I detail references of the difficulties for a number of households who needed to move in and out of the Society for medical reasons, at the time): Sectors G-15, G-16 & F-15, but people were stuck! For Health & Safety reasons it is paramount, an absolute necessity, a fundamental right of every person that there should be emergency access; the only viable location is from the Motorway Link Road.
Sectors G-13, G-14, Eighteen, Top City, and Mumtaz City all have direct access from the Motorway Link Road; there is no reason why Sectors G-15 & G-16 do not! All Sectors have equal Fundamental Right for the ACCESS. The Rental value to NHA is no less!
In her letter, she stressed how much she would greatly appreciate that her endeavor to obtain signatures of all the Residents, establishments, and people affected, is received and addressed with due respect and resolve.
Thanking the NHA in anticipation for their kind attention to take the course of action which brings about much-needed unity in our Capital Society.
With Kind Regards,
Yours sincerely,
All Members & Sectors of the JKCHS
The budget of JKCHS in Sector G-15 was completely wiped out by the earlier management, who squandered and abused without accountability, they did not use the budget funds for the development purposes it was intended; the Society does not have the funds or financial means to take on such task works, however vital and urgently required by the residents. All members who sign and including those who are unable to sign make a humble request to please kindly address this matter immediately.
There are street lights ONLY on the main Boulevards, but sadly, there are no street lights on any of the side roads or streets! There are no pavements where people can walk on with safety! There are no trash bins, for the sake of health and safety! There are no walls on the bridges to block rubbish from falling and from being thrown into the canals, causing blockages of the water flow, creating disgusting smells and dangerous hazards to the locals.
