Educational institutes in Punjab are not getting five consecutive holidays as stated by some reports on social media. The confirmation came from Inspector General Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, who clarified that no orders have been given to close schools, colleges, and universities in Punjab.
He added that social media reports regarding closure of education institutions from January 25 to January 29 due to a security threat is misleading. IG Punjab confirmed there are no security threats and schools, colleges, and universities will continue to operate as per normal schedule.
Dr Usman Anwar also expressed disappointment over people misusing social media to spread baseless rumours. He stated that all reports on social media regarding closure of educational institutions is fake
The IG warned of legal action against individuals spreading false information through use of online platforms.
