ISLAMABAD: All educational and health ministers will meet on 24 March 2021 to make a final decision regarding reopening or further closure of schools across the country which have been shut in several major cities owing to the surge in coronavirus cases.
Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood made the announcement on Twitter. “The third coronavirus wave is serious; requires careful review.” said the federal education minister. “All education/health ministers will meet Wednesday March 24 at the NCOC to take a decision regarding opening or further closure of educational institutions.”

However, the federal education minister stated that health of students and teachers is the primary consideration while making any decision regarding the reopening and further closure of schools across the country.
Previously, the federal government closed schools across major cities of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad owing to the surge in coronavirus cases among students. The new infections included the more contagious UK strain which is also considered to be more leftal.
