The exams for matric and intermediate (classes 10 and 12) will be held after 20 June 2021, said a statement from the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training on Monday.
The decision was taken at the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference under the chairmanship of Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood.
Furthermore, it was decided that summer vacations will be limited and final decision regarding number of leaves will be made by respective provinces.
The meeting discussed the current COVID-19 situation in the country and decided to hold matric and intermediate (classes 10 and 12) exams after 20 June 2021. However, the final dates will be finalized by the provinces.

Priority has been given to the matric and intermediate exams to allow the results to come in before university admissions.
Federal Education MInister Shafqat Mehmood also urged all federal units to ensure timely vaccination of teachers, supervisory and administrative staff.
The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) had already announced that teachers will be vaccinated on a priority basis to bring an end to disruption being caused in the education sector.
It bears mentioning that the federal government has announced the reopening of schools in districts where COVID-19 positivity ratio is less than 5 percent.
