Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas on Friday has issued an update on the schools in Lahore and Rawalpindi amid the surging coronavirus cases in these two cities.
Taking to Twitter, the Education Minister said that all public and private schools in Lahore and Rawalpindi will remain open, however, the students of grade 6 and below will attend classes in a staggered approach (50% attendance) until 15 February 2022.
Meanwhile, the students of classes 7 through 12 will follow the normal schedule. The Education Minister also urged everyone to keep following the COVID-19 SOPs issued by the Government.
In the last 24 hours, Lahore has reported over 1,300 new COVID-19 infections with a positivity rate of 20.58%, the highest recorded in the provincial capital to date. The number of infections continue to rise throughout the country without any indication of slowing down.
The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has also decided to extend coronavirus curbs across the country in an attempt to control the spread of the deadly infection.
