Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, has announced free education till graduation in all government-run educational institutions in the province.
The announcement was made by Pervez Elahi after hoisting the National Flag at a ceremony held at Lahore Fort to celebrate Independence Day.
Pervez Elahi said that he has made education free up to matriculation in his previous tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab and now it was time to extend free education till graduation.
The Chief Minister also announced Rs. 300,000 for special children who sang the national anthem, while announcing Rs. 200,000 for scouts, and Rs 100,000 for the police band who participated in the ceremony.
Elahi also paid tribute to the martyrs of armed forces and police who had laid down their lives in the defence of the country. He added that Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Bajwa had made the country’s defence impregnable and lauded his efforts for eradicating terrorism from the country.
