Schools have remained closed since March and the National Command and Operation Cetnre (NCOC) has decided that schools still cannot open due to risk of putting lives of children in danger.
These remarks come at a time when private schools association has been issuing statements regarding reopening schools despite government orders and Saeed Ghani has warned schools from taking such actions saying:
When adults and people of mature age are not following [standard operating procedures], how can we have that same expectation from children?
A meeting regarding the reopening of schools was held in Islamabad on Wednesday chaired by Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood who said that schools across the country will reopen from September 15 pending the final decision and review by NCOC.
All provinces unanimously agreed to the decision however, the Khyber Pakthunkhwa government recommended that all schools should be reopened from September 1 but the recommendation was rejected by all other provinces.
