The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the Government of Punjab to extend winter vacations for schools and colleges in Lahore by one more week (2 January 2023 to 8 January 2023) due to worsening condition of smog in the provincial capital.
According to the details, the Lahore High Court (LHC) announced the decision for closure of schools and colleges in Lahore while hearing a petition seeking for the court’s intervention to control the worsening smog situation in the city.
It is pertinent to mention that schools and colleges in Lahore along with rest of Punjab is observing winter vacations from 24th December 2022 to 31st January 2023 with normal academic activities scheduled to resume from 2nd January 2023.
Earlier, the Government of Punjab had announced three weekly holidays (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) for all public and private schools and colleges as well as offices in the provincial capital in order to get a control of the worsening fog situation.

Meanwhile, the Government has released a list of all public holidays during the next calendar year (2023), which includes optional holidays as well.
