Illegal cockfight in Ghotki, Rooster arrested by police

An impotent rooster that was a luminary of cockfight in Ghotki, Sindh has been copped in police custody since 8 months. The men behind the curtains, the actual owners of the innocent Rooster were granted bail; however the bird was denied bail and is facing court hearings.

Details of cockfight case:

This weird incident took place about eight months ago. The police officials raided the gambling den at Ghotki, where illegal cockfights were organized. The suspected criminals and the megastar that is the rooster were apprehended immediately.

Adding to the weirdness of the cockfight event in Ghotki, the local court granted bail to the real organizers and gamesters, but the poor helpless rooster was denied its freedom and is imprisoned since then and are presented at all hearings of the case.

The case against this criminal bird is proceeding in Jarwar Police station. According to a police officer, none of the owners, after securing bails came back for the release of this cockfight star. He also added:

“We have to take care of the cock a lot like feeding him and saving him from becoming prey of other animals.”

Cockfight is a blood sport of under-developed areas. The roosters has an aggressive nature against their male species, hence the two competes for dominance in a ring called cockpit. Wagers are placed on both the rooster contestants and gambled on the outcome of matches.

Cockfight is very common in rural parts of Pakistan, hence such type of cases are often reported. However, arresting the rooster and releasing the alleged gamblers adds to the uniqueness of this Ghotki incident.

The convicted rooster is a part of further investigations and is hoping for its liberation some day.
