Fictitious American web series CURSED, adapted from New York Times best selling novel by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler is ready to captivate the audience in magical fantasy as its first season drops on Netflix on 17th July, 2020.
Taking us back to archetypal adventures of King Arthur and his legendary sword, upcoming adventurous Netflix series “Cursed” is a modernised version of old Arthurian tale, portrayed from different dimensions, making it magical.
Plot of the series CURSED:
The story of this beautiful fantasy revolves around the Young woman Nimue, born with supernatural powers, who is bound to be the “Lady of the Lake.” This newfangled twist to Arthur’s tales makes Nimue the principal figure of the series instead of King Arthur himself.
We grew up listening King Arthur was destined to brandish the legendary sword “Excalibur” right? However, in this recreated twisted tale, Arthur needs some magical assistance to pull the sword out from its hidden place and that magic comes from Enchantress Nimue. Making it more interesting, the lady of the lake, Nimue herself is bound to wield the worthy sword in this escapade adventure. Together, the charming Prince Arthur and Nimue carries out their daring journey of delivering the sword to Merlin and defeating King Uthur( Arthur’s Father) and his Red Paladins.
Speaking of CURSED, this is what show-runner and executive producer Thomas Wheeler had to say:
“Realizing these characters from page to screen was a unique and thrilling creative challenge. I think first and foremost when casting for Cursed, Frank [Miller] and I were looking for a mythological truth, actors who could bring the emotion and the humanity to legendary characters without losing the sense of elemental magic and epic stakes. Led by Katherine Langford, who is equal parts classic hero and sword-swinging badass, this extraordinary cast has brought such depth, commitment, and heart to this story. We can’t wait to introduce them to audiences around the world.”
Other than Wheeler, Frank Miller, and Leila Gerstein are also executive producers of upcoming Netflix series followed by Silenn Thomas as co-executive producer and Alex Boden as producer.
The “Knives out” actress Katherine Langford in an interview revealed a bit of her character “Nimue” saying:
“Nimue has a really epic journey. On one hand, she’s going through this journey of great personal loss, of personal growth, and then also the greater challenge of overcoming adversity. One of the greatest things I realized through Nimue is, for me, in this series and the story, she represents courage. She’s a really hopeful beacon and also an interesting heroine, both in this world of Arthurian legend but also, presently it’s quite timely and interesting to see a heroine’s journey as opposed to seeing a hero’s journey — and how that differs, and how it’s similar, along with the challenges she faces.”
