The arrests were made after identifying the suspects through CCTV footage and the police have also recovered the vehicle used in the abduction.

It is pertinent to mention that Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, a prominent figure in Pakistani drama writing, was kidnapped and beaten in Lahore. The incident occurred in the early hours of July 16 in Lahore’s Bahria Town.

According to the first information report (FIR) filed at Sunder Police Station, a group of seven men forcibly entered a house where Qamar had been invited as a guest by a woman named Amna to discuss a potential drama.

The writer stated that the armed men took him to an undisclosed location and tortured him, adding that they demanded a hefty amount and threatened to kill him. The FIR includes charges under sections 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent to secretly and wrongfully confine a person) and 395 (punishment for dacoity) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Khalil ur Rehman Qamar reported that he was robbed of all his belongings on him, with the kidnappers seizing his mobile phone valued at approximately Rs. 150,000, a wristwatch worth Rs. 100,000, and over Rs. 250,0000 in cash from his ATM card.

Furthermore, the writer accused the kidnappers of transferring his mobile data to their own devices and coercing him to reveal his password at gunpoint.
