Pakistani actress Hajra Yamin and Ali Abbas are set to star in upcoming drama serial titled, Mere Apne. The drama’s story line revolves around the practice of ‘watta satta’ which is also known as bride exchange and involves ones daughter being married into a family in exchange for their daughter.
The drama serial is made is collaboration with iDream Entertainment and directed by Mohsin Mirza and Tehseen Khan. Furthermore, Hajra Yamin shared pictures from her upcoming drama Mere Apne on her Instagram account. “We’re coming for you very soon!!!!!!” teased the actress in the caption of her post.
The actress also commented about the drama serial with Dawn’s Images. “Basically it is a story revolving around two households but it’s one big family. In the family, the characters played by Ali and myself, we like each other. The father, because he wants to make his family financially secure, insists that we marry through ‘watta satta’ [bride exchange]. It’s more of a household story and hopefully there will be things about the story that the audience can resonate with,” said Hajra Yamin.
The Ehd-e-Wafa star also revealed details about the cast of the project. “The drama is an ensemble cast,” she said. “It has a big cast, and so it is not just Ali Abbas and myself, there’s also prominent actors such as Waseem Abbas, Zoya Nasir, Arez Ahmed, Zainab Shabbir, Usama Khan [and others].”
