After signing her recent first-look deal with Netflix, American singer and actress Jennifer Lopez is already busy building up that development slate, as according to the sources, the ‘Hustlers’ actress is set to star and produce in the forthcoming Netflix sci-fi thriller titled ‘Atlas’.
Directed by Rampage Helmer’s famed Brad Peyton, the impending action-packed venture will feature the Queen of pop, Jennifer Lopez as an audacious women fighter ‘Atlas’ who is the last hope to safeguard human existence.
In line with the premise “Atlas” unfolds in a bleak-sounding future where an AI soldier has determined the only way to end war is to end humanity. Obviously, this extremist approach to achieving a pacifist paradise doesn’t go down so well with Lopez, who finds herself teaming up with, as the official logline puts it: “the one thing she fears most, that is another AI.”
Moreover, talking about his assignment with Jennifer Lopez, the director Brad Peyton commented, “I’m so honored to be working with Jennifer, Elaine and the rest of the team at Nuyorican Productions along with our partners Joby and Tory at Safehouse.”
“Having the chance to direct Jennifer in the title role of this movie is a dream come true, as I know she’ll bring the incredible strength, depth and authenticity we’ve all come to admire from her work. Furthermore, Jeff and I are so excited to be back working with Scott, Ori and the entire team at Netflix. They have been nothing short of amazing to work with and we are blessed to have the opportunity to make another movie on the service,” he added.

The most recent draft for the approaching Jennifer Lopez starrer is being written by Aron Eli Coleite. Meanwhile, producers include Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell for Safehouse Pictures, Peyton and Jeff Fierson for ASAP Entertainment; Lopez, Goldsmith-Thomas, and Medina for Nuyorican Productions.
Furthermore, although Atlas has a long way to its premiere, Jennifer Lopez will be seen soon in Universal rom com ‘Marry Me’ opposite Owen Wilson, followed with the Lionsgate action comedy Shotgun Wedding. Both the films are slated for an early 2022 release.
