Merle Dandridge, who portrayed Marlene in the video game series, is all set to reprise her role in the forthcoming ‘The Last of Us’ television adaption for HBO. The Flight attendant star has joined the cast that includes Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey and Gabriel Luna as centrals.
The enigmatic and artistic Merle Dandridge possesses an extended list of renowned TV series and video games to her name. Besides landing her vocals to a number of video game characters, the actress’ stage credits include Greenleaf, Murphy Brown, Star-crossed, and The night shift to name a few. She was last spotted in HBO’s ‘The flight attendant as an FBI agent. And, after the running success of her first title with the streamer, Merle Dandridge has already signed up her next venture with HBO.
Moreover, HBO is bringing the massively popular video game series ‘The Last of Us’ to its screens, and to resurrect a chief character, Merle Dandridge has been booked in by the platform.

The last of us HBO series
“The Last of Us” takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of a quarantine zone. Hence, what starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Merle Dandridge will return as Marlene, a head of fireflies, which is a resistance movement struggling for freedom against an oppressive military regime. In ‘the Last of us’ video game and its sequel, Marlene was shown as the one to introduce Ellie to Joel, as she eventually tasks him with smuggling the 14 year old across the country.
In addition to the ‘the last of us’ franchise, Dandridge has appeared in a number of other video game titles too, including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Dota 2 and Half-Life 2. In 2016, the actress received the BAFTA Game best former award for her portrayal as Katherine Collins in ‘Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture.’
Furthermore, other than taking in Dandridge as Marlene, ‘The Last of Us’ has star-studded cast on board. The series names Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie and Gabriel Luna as Tommy.
Neil Druckmann, the writer and creative director of the video games, together with Chernobyl director Craig Mazin is penning the scripts for the series.
Druckmann and Mazin will also executive produce alongside Carolyn Strauss, Naughty Dog’s Evan Wells, Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, and Rose Lam. Jasmila Zbanic and Ali Abbasi are attached to direct the last of us series.
