Netflix has been introducing different measures to discourage password sharing outside of the household. According to details, the streamer will completely put an end to password sharing by July 2023.
Netflix has confirmed that it will start rolling out new account sharing limitations in the second quarter of 2023, which means the streamer will put an end password sharing between now and June 30.
“In Q1, we launched paid sharing in four countries and are pleased with the results. We are planning on a broad rollout, including in the US, in Q2.” the company said in a report.
Some other steps Netflix has taken to discourage password sharing is implementing a ‘primary location’ that is determined using your account history, home Wi-Fi network, and other data. It means that all devices need to connect to the primary network every 31 days to continue using Netflix.
The only workaround is to add a paid ‘extra member’ to your account, which costs less than an individual subscription, but isn’t available for all types of Netflix plans.
However, if a user plans to shift to his or her own account, Netflix has made it easier by introducing a profit transfer function. The new feature will help anybody transfer their profile and all its data to a new account.
